Up early today to make the drive to Christchurch – up the
East Coast. Again the scenery was
amazing. First stop was Shag Point – a
beautiful beach along the coast.
Shag Beach - just North of Dunedin |
We then stopped at Moeraki Boulders – a very unique place.
This stretch of the Koehohe beach has scatters of unusually large (1.2-2.2 metres) and spherical boulders. Over time the erosion of waves has exposed these embedded boulders.
We then stopped in Oamaru to see if we could see some more
penguins – the Blue Penguins – but they only come into shore at dusk and we had
to push on to Christchurch. I did find
some other cute penguins though!!
The boys then found a place the let you ride old fashion bikes
– Penny Farthings – they had fun riding them – Kade has decided he wants one of
these instead of a unicycle when we get home!
Kia Ora New Zealand thanks for the memories
