This weekend we set off to Rottnest Island a popular holiday spot. We had a fabulous weekend with other Canadians that are here on exchange as well. This is an amazingly beautiful Island that has no vehicular traffic -only service vehicles. It is only 19 square kilometres in size and you ride your bikes around everywhere. It is also the home of the Quokka - a marsupial that is part of the kangaroo family - they only live on this Island - nowhere else in the world. We also saw a pod of bottlenose dolphins surfing and jumping out of the waves, sea lions playing in the water, two dugite snakes, King Skinks, Peacocks, a very large stingray and many tropical fish. We also enjoyed beautiful views, visiting the lighthouse and Oliver Hill. I would definitely go back.

Dolphins - look closely and you will see a dolphin jumping at the right of the wave but also there are about 4 other dolphins in the wave. Spent almost an hour watching them surf the waves |

This is a Dugite Snake - one of the most lethal snakes in the world After I found that out I felt a little dumb chasing it to get a picture |
