Well here it is our blog for our 2014 adventure - the adventure down under in Australia. We, Sean, Krystin, Matthew and Kade Rennie, are heading to Australia for a year. The adventure starts before we actually get to where we will live. We are heading to New Zealand on Christmas day for a little family vacation then off to the east coast of Australia before settling in Falcon in Western Australia. We will be about an hour south of Perth on the Indian Ocean. So stay tuned as we plan to post often to keep our family and friends up to date on our adventure.

A Tour of the Neighbourhood

Lately we have been exploring our neighbourhood both the estuary and sea side.  Every time we go out there is something new to see.  Below are some recent pictures.

A Canadian Bonfire in Australia

This weekend was a weekend full of Canadians. The main goal was to have a bonfire on the beach for Molly - it was on her bucket list. It turned out to be the warmest day so far this spring 33 degrees - I think the temperature actually broke some records.  Suzie, Wayne and I started the day with a run along the ocean front, followed by a 3 hour family bike tour around Mandurah guided by Sean - the estuary and sea side, Then a swim at Melrose Beach - a reverse ironman!!!  Then the evening bonfire at our local beach.  I can honestly say it was an amazing day.

City to Surf Birthday Celebration

Well I had a great birthday weekend.  It started out with a trip to Perth on Friday to watch Matthew and his teammates play in the league tag carnival - it was a rainy experience but the kids seemed to love it.  Then I caught the train into downtown Perth to get my race kit for the half marathon on Sunday.  Sean and Kade joined me and we explored the Perth Winter Supper Club event.  This event hosted several international food vendors and we enjoyed Moroccan Shak Shuka, Arepa (from Venezuela), Colombian empanada's and Kade enjoyed a Nutella Crepe.

Sunday was the big race day.  The Perth City to Surf Half Marathon. The weather was perfect, the company great but the hills were deadly.  There were over 50,000 people participating in various events including a marathon, half marathon, 12 k walk/run and a 4 km walk.  5,000 in the half marathon made for an interesting and tight start to the race.

Good luck wishes from our kids!!!  Suzie and I trying to keep
